Vàclav Luks
Václav Luks studied at the Pilsen Conservatoire, the Academy of
Performing Arts in Prague, and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In 2005,
he founded the baroque orchestra Collegium 1704 and Collegium Vocale 1704.
With these ensembles, he has performed at leading European venues and
collaborated with major artists including Magdalena Kožená, Philippe
Jaroussky, and Andreas Scholl. His work has revived interest in Czech
composers like Zelenka and Mysliveček and earned numerous international
awards. He has conducted both period and modern orchestras, including the
Orchestre National de France, the Czech Philharmonic, and Akademie für
Alte Musik Berlin. He also served as musical consultant for the
award-winning film Il Boemo.
